Dealer-level ODIS and PIWIS servicing, diagnostics and repairs across the VW Group — Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Škoda and Porsche.

The VW Group — under one roof

The VW Group is a vast family — Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Škoda, Porsche, Bentley — and from a diagnostic and tuning perspective they share a huge amount of platform DNA. A Golf R, an S3 and a Cupra Leon all run variants of the EA888. A Touareg V6 TDI and a Cayenne Diesel share more than the marketing suggests.

At Slick Autos, we treat them as one specialism. We run genuine ODIS diagnostics for the VAG side and PIWIS III for Porsche. That gives us the dealer-level access we need to properly diagnose, code and service every car in the group.

Based just off the M4 in the Slough / Iver SL0 area, we serve drivers across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and West London — including Langley, Windsor, Staines, Uxbridge and Maidenhead.

Servicing and known issues

Timing chain tensioners on early EA888s, carbon build-up on direct-injection engines, DSG mechatronic faults, water pumps and thermostats — the VW Group has a well-catalogued set of known issues and we know how to fix each one first time. Services are carried out on manufacturer schedule and logged against the VIN via the dealer tool.

Porsche — genuine PIWIS

Porsche diagnostics needs PIWIS, full stop. Many independent garages can't service a Cayenne, Macan or 911 properly because they don't have the right tool. We do. We service, diagnose, code and tune Cayenne, Macan, 718 and 911 platforms to dealer standards.

  • Volkswagen — Golf GTI, Golf R, Polo GTI, T-Roc R, Arteon R, Touareg
  • Audi — S1, S3, RS3, S4, RS4, S5, RS5, SQ5, S6, RS6, S7, RS7, Q7
  • SEAT / Cupra — Leon Cupra, Leon Cupra R, Ateca Cupra, Formentor
  • Škoda — Octavia vRS, Superb, Kodiaq vRS
  • Porsche — Macan, Cayenne, 718 Cayman/Boxster, 911 Carrera/Turbo

Golf R, Audi RS and optional DSG tuning

The MK7 and MK8 Golf R, S3 8V/8Y, RS3 8V/8Y and RS4/RS5/RS6 platforms are popular with owners who want more once the car is properly maintained. Stage 1 maps are developed on the rolling road; Stage 2 builds are available with supporting hardware. DSG gearbox calibration is available alongside the engine tune.

  • Genuine ODIS and PIWIS III diagnostics
  • Long and variant coding
  • Servicing on manufacturer schedule with genuine parts
  • Haldex and quattro driveline servicing
  • Known-issue repairs (tensioners, water pumps, mechatronics)
  • Optional ECU and DSG tuning, Stage 1 and Stage 2

Frequently asked

Straight answers.

Do you have PIWIS for Porsche?

Yes. We run genuine PIWIS III, the Porsche dealer-level diagnostic platform. This is the only tool that gives full access to all Porsche control modules, coding and guided fault finding.

Can you tune a MK8 Golf R or RS3 8Y?

Yes. Both are popular platforms in the workshop. We offer Stage 1 and Stage 2 maps developed on the rolling road, with DSG calibration included where it helps. Expected gains are discussed per car before booking.

Do you service Porsche Cayenne and Macan?

Yes. Cayenne and Macan servicing is a regular part of our work — oil, filters, plugs, brakes, transfer cases and differentials. All work is logged via PIWIS and you receive a full printout.

Can you fix a DSG mechatronic fault?

Most DSG faults can be resolved without a full replacement. We diagnose the fault properly first, check the mechatronic unit, carry out the software updates and basic settings, and only replace the unit if it's truly necessary. Many 'DSG failures' other garages quote are really a solenoid, a sensor or a software issue.

What about SEAT, Škoda and Cupra?

All welcome. Cupra Leon, Octavia vRS, Kodiaq vRS and Formentor are all based on VW Group platforms and we treat them exactly the same as their Audi and VW siblings. Full ODIS diagnostics, genuine parts, same tuning options.

Can you carry out the EA888 timing chain tensioner update?

Yes. Early EA888 Gen 2 and Gen 3 engines (Golf GTI MK6, Audi A3 8P/8V, S3 8P) had a known tensioner weakness that was addressed by a revised Gen 3B tensioner. If your car hasn't had the update it should, regardless of mileage — it's a couple of hours of labour and it prevents a potential chain jump.

Do you work on Audi RS cars in particular?

Absolutely. RS3 (8V / 8Y), RS4 (B8 / B9), RS5 (8T / F5), RS6 (C7 / C8) and RS7 are all regulars. The DAZA/DNWA five-cylinders respond beautifully to calibration work, and the V8 TFSI RS4/RS5/RS6 C7 platforms have a predictable set of known issues (carbon intake, water pump, timing chain tensioners on older cars) that we've seen many times.

Can you work on Porsche 992 (current 911)?

Yes. PIWIS III covers the 992 generation, including the Turbo and Turbo S, GT3 and GT3 Touring variants. Servicing, diagnostics, coding and basic calibration work all possible. For very early 992s still under manufacturer warranty we'll advise if a particular job is better carried out at a main dealer to preserve the warranty balance.
